History
Kali Uchis, born Karly Marina Loaiza on July 17, 1994, in Alexandria, Virginia, is an American singer-songwriter with Colombian roots through her father. After a turbulent adolescence that included a period living out of her car, she self-released the genre-blending mixtape Drunken Babble in 2012, mixing doo-wop, reggae and early-2000s R&B. Her 2015 EP Por Vida, featuring production from Diplo, Tyler, the Creator and Kaytranada, built her cult following. The 2018 debut album Isolation earned wide critical acclaim, and her 2020 Spanish-language album Sin Miedo (del Amor y Otros Demonios) produced "Telepatía", which went viral on TikTok before release and became her first Billboard Hot 100 entry, later certified double platinum. Subsequent albums Red Moon in Venus (2023), Orquídeas (2024) and Sincerely (2025) each reached the Billboard 200 top five. She has won a Grammy Award and an American Music Award, and collaborated with Gorillaz, Daniel Caesar, Juanes and Mac Miller — her 2019 duet "Time" was Miller's first posthumous release after his 2018 death.
