History
Infekt makes riddim with a wonky, bouncing swing: stripped-back drums, heavy halftime weight and basslines that are simple on paper but move in odd, lurching patterns. The producer comes from Bayreuth in Germany and became one of the names most closely tied to Disciple Round Table, the offshoot of the Disciple label that gave a home to the harder, stranger end of riddim and trench in the late 2010s. His debut there, the Journey To Mars EP, came out in 2017 and framed his sound as a space-themed trip through filthy low end and shifting rhythm rather than a string of drops. The High Score EP followed in 2019, and Veggie Games in 2024 showed he was still working in the same playful, heavy lane years later. He has also remixed fellow riddim producers, including a version of Subfiltronik's Blood Goblinz. What sets him apart is the mix of weight and humour: tracks built from very few elements, where the character comes from how the bass stutters, wobbles and snaps back, set against cartoonish sound design and a restrained arrangement.
