History
Icona Pop is a Swedish synth-pop duo formed in Stockholm in 2009 by Caroline Hjelt and Aino Jawo, who met by chance at a party and had written songs for their first show within four weeks. Their sound blends electro house and indie pop, described by Swedish press as music "you can both laugh and cry to at the same time." They signed to TEN Music Group in 2009 and later to Ultra Music. The duo broke through internationally in 2012-2013 with "I Love It," featuring Charli XCX, which appeared on shows including Girls, The Vampire Diaries and Glee, and earned two Teen Choice Awards in 2013. Follow-up singles "All Night" and "Emergency" (with Erik Hassle) both topped the Billboard Dance chart. They have collaborated with Tiesto and Cobra Starship, toured with Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus and One Direction, and worked with producers like Patrik Berger and Starsmith. Their debut album Icona Pop was released in 2012, followed by This Is... Icona Pop.
