History
Hailee Steinfeld, born December 11, 1996, in Los Angeles, is an American actress who crossed into pop music in 2015. After playing Emily Junk in Pitch Perfect 2 and performing on its soundtrack, she signed with Republic Records and released her debut single "Love Myself" that August. The track's suggestive, self-empowerment lyrics drew media attention, and it debuted at number 27 on the Billboard Pop Songs chart, the highest chart debut for a solo female artist in 17 years, since Natalie Imbruglia's "Torn" in 1998. Her debut EP, Haiz, followed in November 2015. Her biggest hit came in 2016 with "Starving" (Grey featuring Zedd), which went multi-platinum across several countries including the US, UK, Australia, and Canada. She continued releasing dance-pop singles through the late 2010s, including "Most Girls" and "Let Me Go" (with Alesso), and issued the EP Half Written Story in 2020.
