History
Giveon Dezmann Evans (born February 21, 1995) is an American R&B and neo-soul singer-songwriter from Long Beach, California, known mononymously as Giveon (stylized GIVĒON). Raised by a single mother alongside two brothers, he discovered his rich baritone voice singing at birthday parties and later studied music history at the Grammy Museum, where he fell in love with Frank Sinatra; Frank Ocean, Drake, Adele and Sampha are among his other influences. He broke through in 2019 with "Like I Want You," then signed to Epic Records in 2020. A genuinely interesting origin story: his manager sent a freestyle Giveon performed while touring with Snoh Aalegra to Drake, leading to a feature on Drake's "Chicago Freestyle." His debut EP Take Time earned a Grammy nomination, and the single "Heartbreak Anniversary" went five-times platinum. In 2021 he sang alongside Daniel Caesar on Justin Bieber's "Peaches," which debuted at number one on three major charts simultaneously and picked up four Grammy nods. His albums Give or Take (2022) and Beloved (2025) both reached the US top ten.
