GAYLE is the stage name of Taylor Gayle Rutherfurd, an American singer-songwriter born June 10, 2004, in Plano, Texas. She began singing at age seven and later moved to Nashville to pursue music, signing with Arthouse Entertainment in 2020 after being discovered by former American Idol judge Kara DioGuardi, which led to a deal with Atlantic Records. Her breakout single "ABCDEFU" (2021), a blunt, sardonic kiss-off anthem, went viral on TikTok and Spotify, peaked at number three on the Billboard Hot 100, topped the charts in the UK, Ireland, Germany, and several other countries, and earned her a Grammy nomination for Song of the Year. Musically she works in alternative rock and pop rock. She has released a string of EPs (the "A Study of the Human Experience" series) and opened shows on Taylor Swift's Eras Tour and Pink's Summer Carnival Tour. A genuinely notable trivia fact: GAYLE has chromesthesia, a form of synesthesia in which she perceives sound as color, and has spoken publicly about being dyslexic.
