History
Gallant, born Christopher Joseph Gallant III on November 14, 1991, in Washington, D.C. and raised in Columbia, Maryland, is an American singer-songwriter known for a falsetto-driven blend of contemporary R&B, alternative rock, and electronic textures. After studying music at NYU's Gallatin School and moving to Los Angeles in 2013, he self-released the EP Zebra in 2014. His single "Weight in Gold" broke through in 2015 when Zane Lowe premiered it on Beats 1's launch day, and his 2016 debut album Ology earned a Grammy nomination for Best Urban Contemporary Album alongside acclaim from Pitchfork and The Guardian. His 2016 Coachella set, which included a surprise duet with Seal, was named Billboard's top moment of the festival. He has recorded with Jhene Aiko ("Skipping Stones"), John Legend, and Dua Lipa through his web series In the Room, and released the albums Sweet Insomnia (2019) and Zinc. (2024), plus the collaborative EP sneek (2023) with jazz musician Terrace Martin.
