History
Frendzona (Френдзона) was a Russian pop-rock/pop-punk group formed in Saint Petersburg in 2018 by Vladimir Galat, who had previously rapped under the name Galat and was known for battle-rap appearances. He teamed up with Gleb Lysenko and singer Viktoria Lysyuk, adopting the stage personas Kroki Boy, Mayklav, and Mayby Baby; DJ Valera briefly rounded out the lineup before leaving in 2019. Signed to Rhymes Music, the band released its debut single "Boychik" and album "Flirt na vpiske" in April 2018, blending pop-punk, trap, EDM and mumble-rock aimed at a teenage audience. Their 2018 concert tour was disrupted after an activist group accused them of promoting drugs and "immoral" content, several dates were cancelled. The 2020 follow-up album "Ne razley voda" broadened their sound, included a live performance on "Vecherniy Urgant," and won them the Musician of the Year award at MTV Russia. After a third album, "Albomba," in 2021, the band announced its breakup in April 2022, following farewell shows in Moscow and Saint Petersburg. Lysyuk continued solo as Mayby Baby.
