Mid-2010s Australian future bass from the 2010s: granular vocal chops, detuned supersaw swell, metallic percussion clinks, shimmering and euphoric in feel. A name-free Suno recipe that reproduces the signature sound without tripping the artist-name filter.

History

Flume changed the texture of pop-adjacent electronic music by making the drop a melodic event rather than a rhythmic one. The Australian producer builds tracks from detuned, bent synth chords that wobble in and out of tune, sharp metallic percussion and vocals chopped into small pieces and pitched around, and the result sits somewhere between hip-hop tempo and festival scale. The style got labelled future bass, and much of what followed in that lane borrowed directly from his first two records. Skin won the Grammy for Best Dance/Electronic Album in 2017, with Never Be Like You as its centrepiece, a heartbroken vocal set against chords that never quite settle. His remixes did as much work as his own singles, reshaping other people's songs around that same warped harmony rather than simply adding a beat. Later releases have pushed towards noise, damage and more abrasive sound design. What a listener recognises is the pitch bend, a chord sliding under itself instead of holding still.
