History
Ellie Goulding (born Elena Jane Goulding, 30 December 1986, Hereford, England) is an English singer-songwriter who emerged from the UK electropop scene at the turn of the 2010s. After signing to Polydor Records in 2009, she topped the BBC's Sound of 2010 poll and won the Brit Awards Critics' Choice Award the same year, then saw her debut album Lights (2010) go straight to number one in the UK. Her sound blends electronica, synth-pop and folk-tinged songwriting, drawing on influences from Bjork to Imogen Heap. Follow-up albums Halcyon (2012) and Delirium (2015) produced hits including "Burn" and "Love Me Like You Do," the latter written for the film Fifty Shades of Grey and her biggest-selling single, spending a month at UK number one. She also scored UK chart-toppers with Calvin Harris ("Miracle") and covered Elton John's "Your Song," which she performed at Prince William and Kate Middleton's 2011 wedding reception at Buckingham Palace.
