History
Elizium is a Russian punk rock band formed in Nizhny Novgorod in 1995 by bassist and leader Dmitry Kuznetsov. Vocalist Alexander Telekhov, the group's longest-serving member besides Kuznetsov, joined in 1997 and became the band's frontman. Elizium's cover of "Tri belykh konya" (from the film "Charodei") spent over two months on the influential radio chart "Chartova Dyuzhina," building early momentum. Their second album, "Vse ostrova!" (2002), broke them nationally and established Elizium as one of the leading acts on the Russian punk rock scene; the follow-up, "Kosmos" (2003), is regarded by fans as the band's finest record. Elizium became the first Russian act to share a stage with NOFX, Mad Caddies, and Die Ärzte, and has played major festivals including "Nashestviye" and Saint Petersburg's "Okna Otkroy!". Several former Elizium members went on to found other notable Russian acts, including Lampasy and Blondinka Ksyu. The band has undergone numerous lineup changes over three decades while continuing to tour and record.
