History

Dzhigan (real name Denis Ustimenko-Vainshtein) is a Russian-Ukrainian rapper born August 2, 1985 in Odessa. Before music, he was a competitive kickboxer, becoming Ukrainian champion and a European silver medalist as a teenager. His stage name reportedly traces back to Ice-T's album "O.G. Original Gangster" — the only copy in his Odessa circle at the time, which earned him the nickname. His breakthrough came in the mid-2000s after meeting producer DJ Dlee, who introduced him to Timati, and Dzhigan became one of the flagship artists of Timati's Black Star Inc. label. His biggest hits were duets with pop singers: "Холодное сердце" (Cold Heart) with Anna Sedokova (2009), "Отпускай" (Let Go) with Yulia Savicheva, which won a Golden Gramophone award (2011), and "Ты рядом" (You're Near) with Zhanna Friske (2011). He left Black Star at the end of 2013 to go solo, releasing "Надо подкачаться" (Need to Pump Up) in 2014, a project later named best hip-hop project of the year by Muz-TV. He is married to model Oksana Samoylova, with whom he has four children.
