History

Dust Bolt play old-school thrash metal with a young band's energy: fast, stop-start riffing, gang-shouted choruses, frantic solos and short bursts of hardcore punk in the rhythm section. They formed in 2007 in Landsberg am Lech in Bavaria while still teenagers and grew up on the classic German thrash of Kreator, Destruction and Tankard as well as the Bay Area bands, a lineage that is audible in almost every riff. Napalm Records released their debut "Violent Demolition" in 2012, followed by "Awake the Riot", "Mass Confusion" and "Trapped in Chaos", records that kept the raw, live-sounding attack while the songwriting grew more varied and melodic. They built their reputation on the road, touring Europe relentlessly and playing festivals such as Wacken and Bloodstock, where their live attack won over crowds that had never heard the records. Later work on AFM Records brought in cleaner vocals and a more modern production. What a listener recognises is the urgency: riffs that rarely sit still, choruses made for shouting back, and a sense of a band playing as if in a small, packed club.
