History
DJ Snake, born William Sami Étienne Grigahcine on June 13, 1986, is a French record producer and DJ raised in Ermont, a Paris suburb, to Algerian parents. He got his nickname as a teenage graffiti artist who consistently evaded police. He started DJing at 14 and producing at 19, playing clubs like Les Bains Douches before his career took off. His sound blends trap, EDM, and pop, built for festival stages and radio alike. He first drew industry attention producing on Lady Gaga's Born This Way, and broke internationally in 2013 with Turn Down for What alongside Lil Jon, which reached the Billboard Hot 100 top 40. Lean On, his 2015 collaboration with Major Lazer and MØ, became one of the era's biggest dance-pop hits. His 2016 debut album Encore reached the Billboard 200 top ten and included the multi-platinum Let Me Love You with Justin Bieber. He is also a member of the French DJ collective Pardon My French, alongside Tchami, Mercer, and Malaa.
