DJ Shadow
1990s sample-collage instrumental hip-hop from the 1990s: crate-dug breakbeat, MPC-chopped drums, wobbling organ sample, nostalgic and hypnotic in feel. A name-free Suno recipe that reproduces the signature sound without tripping the artist-name filter.

History
DJ Shadow built Endtroducing..... out of other people's records and almost nothing else, an album assembled on a sampler from drum breaks, orchestral fragments, spoken word and library music dug out of second-hand bins in northern California. What made it more than a technical stunt was the mood. The tempos are slow, the drums are heavy and dusty, and the samples are chosen for atmosphere rather than for the obvious loop, so the record plays as a single long piece rather than a set of beats. Midnight in a Perfect World is the emotional centre, built on a piano figure and a wordless vocal that sound like they were recorded underwater. Organ Donor is the opposite, a short, ugly, propulsive organ riff that became a staple of skate videos and sports arenas. Building Steam with a Grain of Salt shows how the seams are hidden. His influence is easiest to hear in instrumental hip hop and in everything later filed under trip hop, where his approach to sampling became a default.
