History
Dima Bilan (born Viktor Nikolayevich Belan, 24 December 1981, Ust-Dzheguta, Karachay-Cherkessia) is a Russian pop singer trained in academic vocal at the Gnesin Musical College in Moscow. Discovered by producer Yuri Aizenshpis, he released his debut album "Ya Nochnoy Khuligan" ("I'm a Night Hooligan") in 2003. After Aizenshpis's death, producer Yana Rudkovskaya took over his career and steered him toward Eurovision. Bilan represented Russia at Eurovision 2006, finishing second with "Never Let You Go," then won the contest outright in 2008 with "Believe," performing alongside Olympic figure skater Evgeni Plushenko and violinist Edvin Marton — Russia's only Eurovision victory to date. The win opened international doors: he signed with producer Timbaland, worked with Nelly Furtado, and released an English-language album, "Believe" (2009), though a lasting Western breakthrough proved elusive and he refocused on the Russian market. He later spent several years as a coach on the Russian versions of "The Voice" and "The Voice Kids." He holds the title Merited Artist of the Russian Federation (2018).
