History

Dasha Rush makes hypnotic, deeply textured techno and experimental electronic music that often slides from club rhythm into drone, voice and abstract sound design. She started young in Moscow, where she was among the first women DJing and producing in Eastern Europe, moved to France in 1996 and later settled in Berlin. In the early 2000s she built an international reputation as a DJ, composer and producer, and in 2007 she launched her own label, Fullpanda, later adding the experimental sub-label Hunger to Create. Fullpanda also released music by artists such as Donato Dozzy and Stanislav Tolkachev, placing her at the centre of the slow, immersive strand of techno often called hypnotic. She has released on Sonic Groove and on Raster, which in 2015 issued her third album «Sleepstep (Sonar Poems for My Sleepless Friends)», a record of drones, skeletal beats and her own voice that largely leaves the kick drum behind. Her work also extends to collaborations with dancers and painters. Listeners recognise her by long, patient builds, deep low end and an atmosphere that sits between the club and the gallery.
