Com Truise
Twenty-tens mid-fi synth funk from the 2010s: wobbling detuned lead, rubbery slap-bass synth, LinnDrum snare crack, dreamy and nostalgic in feel. A name-free Suno recipe that reproduces the signature sound without tripping the artist-name filter.

History
Com Truise gave a name to his own corner of synth music, calling it mid-fi synth-wave and slow-motion funk, and both halves of that are literal. The records run slower than the 1980s music they draw on, usually sitting in a heavy mid-tempo, and they are deliberately smeared: tape hiss, chorus and flange over everything, drum machines mixed thick and slightly behind the beat. The melodies are the clearest element, simple analogue synth lines with a lot of pitch drift, which is what gives the music its faintly broken, out-of-warranty feeling. Galactic Melt, released in 2011 on Ghostly International, is the record that fixed the style and became a reference point for a wave of producers working with retro-futurist hardware. "Brokendate", "Cyanide Sisters" and "Propagation" show the range available inside a narrow palette, from near-ballad to heavy machine funk. The music is instrumental and cinematic without ever settling into background, because the rhythm stays insistent throughout.
