History

Chemical Surf is a Brazilian production duo of brothers Lucas and Hugo Sanches, from Maringá in the south of the country, whose tracks mix bass house, tech house and progressive house with the bouncy low end of Brazilian bass. They started out in the mid-2000s and grew with the country's club scene, moving from local parties to international labels. Hey Hey Hey and Feeling Good, the latter made with Vintage Culture, show the formula that made them known: a short vocal hook repeated until it works like an instrument, a gritty, rolling bassline and drops built for peak-time sets. Pararam kept that playful, chant-driven approach. Over the years their music has come out on labels such as Spinnin' Records, STMPD, Dim Mak and Armada, and they have collaborated with international names including Tiësto, Kaskade and Afrojack, as well as with Brazilian artists such as Gabriel O Pensador. The constants are punchy drums, chopped vocal chants and a heavy, groove-first bass that keeps the floor moving.
