History
Charli XCX, born Charlotte Emma Aitchison on 2 August 1992 in Cambridge, England, is a British singer, songwriter, and producer who grew up in Start Hill, Essex. She began posting songs on Myspace in 2008 while still a teenager, cutting her teeth in London's rave scene before signing to Asylum Records in 2010. Her sound spans electropop, dance-pop, synth-pop, and hyperpop. Her 2012 co-write and feature on Icona Pop's "I Love It" gave her a UK number one, and her guest verse on Iggy Azalea's 2014 hit "Fancy" became her most-streamed song. After experimenting with the PC Music collective on mixtapes like Pop 2, she found her biggest mainstream success with 2024's Brat, which topped the UK chart, was named album of the year by Billboard and Rolling Stone, and won three Grammy Awards, including Best Dance/Electronic Album. The record's lurid green cover and blunt, party-worn attitude sparked a global cultural moment nicknamed "Brat Summer."
