History
Moscow in the mid-2000s, three different voices sharing one track: Guf, Ptaha and Slim. That hand-off is what CENTR sounds like, and it is why the group's records still play differently from anything the three did apart. «Эфир в норме» (2007) brought them a wide audience, and «Качели» (2008) is the album most listeners name first. Nel built the beats from warm soul and jazz samples, dusty and unhurried, and the writing stays close to everyday Moscow: courtyards, minibuses, empty pockets, mornings after. Guf's flat conversational delivery works against Ptaha's sharper attack and Slim's lower, heavier register, and the verses are arranged so the microphone keeps moving. The group came apart at the end of the decade. Guf's solo run, opened by «Город дорог» (2007), carried the same sound into the mainstream.
