History
Bodysnatcher play deathcore with the weight shifted toward hardcore, built for the slow, crushing breakdowns known as beatdown. The band formed in Melbourne, Florida, in the mid-2010s, and grew out of a scene where deathcore's low tunings and guttural vocals meet the mosh-driven rhythms of bands like Terror and Hatebreed. Their debut album Death of Me in 2017, released through Stay Sick Recordings, set out the formula: short, heavy songs that build toward drawn-out breakdowns with huge gaps between the hits. This Heavy Void followed, and Bleed-Abide in 2022, released on MNRK Heavy, brought a bigger production and a darker emotional tone, dealing with depression, loss and inner struggle rather than gore. Vocalist Kyle Medina moves between deep growls and harsh barked lines that sit squarely in the hardcore tradition. A listener recognises Bodysnatcher by downtuned riffs that grind almost to a halt, the pause before the drop, heavy chugging rhythm guitars and a bleak, confessional mood beneath all the violence.
