Blue Öyster Cult
Occult hard rock with cold harmonies from the 1970s: arpeggiated clean guitar, twin harmonized leads, steady eighth-note cowbell, menacing and hypnotic in feel. A name-free Suno recipe that reproduces the signature sound without tripping the artist-name filter.

History
Blue Öyster Cult came together on Long Island at the end of the 1960s, working under a few names, Soft White Underbelly among them, before settling on the one with the umlaut. The classic line-up ran Eric Bloom on vocals, Donald Roeser, known as Buck Dharma, on lead guitar, Allen Lanier on keyboards and guitar, and the Bouchard brothers, Joe on bass and Albert on drums. Sandy Pearlman managed and produced them and, together with the critic Richard Meltzer, supplied much of the early lyrical world. The first album appeared in 1972. Agents of Fortune (1976) carried (Don't Fear) The Reaper, written and sung by Roeser, and Spectres followed a year later with Godzilla. Outside writers kept turning up in the credits: Patti Smith co-wrote lyrics, and Michael Moorcock supplied words for Black Blade and Veteran of the Psychic Wars. The sound rests on flat, unsentimental harmony singing and hard rock that keeps its distance from the blues.
