History

Blank Banshee is the Canadian producer who pulled vaporwave toward trap. His records pair the genre's familiar raw materials, glossy corporate synths, operating-system chimes, clipped R&B vocals and new-age pads, with booming 808s, rattling hi-hats and short, loopable track lengths that feel closer to beat tapes than to ambient suites. Blank Banshee 0 (2012) set the style and became one of the most-played vaporwave albums online, with tracks such as "Teen Pregnancy" turning into standards of the scene. Blank Banshee 1 (2013) sharpened the formula, and Mega (2016) widened it with bigger, more polished production and a stronger sense of melody. The visual side matters as much as the sound: marble busts, digital water, low-poly landscapes and pastel gradients that fit the music's mix of luxury and decay. What sets him apart from many peers is rhythm. Where others slowed samples into a haze, Blank Banshee kept the drums punchy and the edits tight, which is why his work is often filed as vaporwave rap or vaportrap.
