History
Axwell, born Axel Christofer Hedfors on 18 December 1977 in Lund, Sweden, is a house DJ and producer who taught himself drums at nine and was building full tracks on a home computer by his early teens, first releasing music under the names Quazar and OXL. He founded Axtone Records and built his name through remix work before teaming up with Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso in 2008 to form Swedish House Mafia, whose 2010 anthem "One (Your Name)" featuring Pharrell Williams and albums Until One, Until Now, and the 2022 reunion record Paradise Again (a Billboard Dance/Electronic Albums number one) made them one of the defining acts of the EDM era. His remix of "In My Mind" earned a Grammy nomination, one of five in his career. With Ingrosso he also formed Axwell /\ Ingrosso, scoring the 2015 hit "Sun Is Shining," which went quadruple platinum in Sweden. Swedish House Mafia's later collaboration with The Weeknd, "Moth to a Flame," reached audiences well beyond dance music.
