History

Andy Mineo mixes Christian faith with the sound of mainstream rap, and he has always resisted being filed only under the label Christian rapper. He grew up in Syracuse, New York, and first recorded as C-Lite before dropping that name when he signed with Reach Records in 2011. There he became part of the 116 Clique collective and a frequent collaborator of Lecrae. His debut album Heroes for Sale (2013) and the follow-up Uncomfortable (2015) set the template: punchy, modern production with trap drums and big hooks, carrying lyrics about doubt, identity, money and belief rather than simple sermons. Beyond rapping he produces, directs music videos and runs his own collective, Miner League. His catalogue includes the Never Land series, the EPs I: The Arrow and II: The Sword (2018) and the mixtape Magic & Bird with his friend Wordsplayed, a lighter, joke-filled record. A listener recognises him by his conversational, witty flow and his habit of questioning himself on record.
