History
Alok is the DJ and producer most closely tied to Brazilian bass, a club sound built on deep, wobbling, heavily modulated basslines under house grooves, big melodic drops and festival-scale energy. He grew up in Goiânia in a family steeped in electronic music: his parents were DJs from the psytrance scene, and he started performing young alongside his twin brother before focusing on his own career. Early club tracks such as We Are Underground (2013) established the rubbery bass that became the scene's signature. His global breakthrough came with Hear Me Now (2016), made with Bruno Martini and Zeeba, a gentle, vocal-led song that reached listeners far beyond the dance floor. Big Jet Plane (2017), a reworking of the Angus & Julia Stone song with Mathieu Koss, extended that pop reach. He became one of the highest ranked Brazilian artists in international DJ polls and a regular headliner at major festivals. On record he is easy to spot: elastic bass, clean vocal hooks and a bright, open mix built for large crowds.
