History
Alexandra Stan (Alexandra Ioana Stan, born 10 June 1989 in Constanța, Romania) is a dance-pop and Eurodance singer. Producers Marcel Prodan and Andrei Nemirschi discovered her at a karaoke bar in 2009 and signed her to their label, Maan Records, where she released her debut single "Lollipop (Param Pam Pam)" the same year. Her breakthrough came in 2010 with "Mr. Saxobeat," the lead single from her debut album Saxobeats (2011): a synth-and-saxophone dance-pop track that topped Romania's chart for eight weeks, sold close to a million copies, and reached the top ten in more than twenty countries, with her vocals sometimes compared to Rihanna's. The song earned her the Best Romanian Act award and a European Border Breakers Award, plus an MTV Europe Music Award nomination. She continued releasing music through the 2010s and 2020s, including the 2018 collaboration "Miami" with Manuel Riva and her fifth studio album, Rainbows (2022).
